Send me a photo, I can’t be bothered to read

Is the media becoming inbred?
Yes, yes, that’s right. Facebook has purchased Instagram. For those of you who are, electronically out of touch, over the age of 35, or just genuinely, how to put it, slow... Instagram is a photo-sharing application for smartphones. It’s success lies on it’s ‘filter’ ability, which is basically a C-grade Photoshop. Such images can be shared on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or Intragram’s own social media site.

The funny thing about Instagram, is that it makes no profit, and has a very minimal revenue. Why on earth then, would Zuckerberg buy if for $US1 billion. Zuckerberg saw Instagram as a threat. Instagram now has 30 million users. Facebook’s static purchase will further impact our social media usage. Time, a news platform, released the results from a study into media usage. The scholar who analysed the project for Time concluded: "This study strongly suggests a transformation in the time spent, patterns of visual attention and emotional consequences of modern media consumption that is rewiring the brains of a generation of Americans like never before."
